Week 1: Introduction to Data Science.¶

In the first week of data science course by Prof Neil Gershenfeld, Director of MIT's Center for Bits and Atoms. We were taken thourgh some of the greatest hits of data sciences back then and now. Professor also emphasized on the power and capabilities of what data science can do in finding insightfuls trends and patterns that could be vital in different fileds such as sports and other fileds.
Objectives of first Assignment¶
- To choose a dataset and write a short description on the selected data.
- To get familiarized with using of Jupyter LAB.
About my dataset¶
The dataset that I have chosen for this course is "Annual Health Statistics",the data is an Annual health statistics which provides comprehensive health information about Bhutan, offering insights into the nation’s health status and evolving trends. The data included in AHB 2024 has been gathered from health facilities nationwide, utilizing DHIS2, Monthly Activity Reports, Monthly Morbidity Reports. This dataset has National Health Statistics pertaining to multiple years. A Govtech is an Agency (GovTech) of Bhutan which aims to improve how the government works by using technology to make public services more efficient and user-friendly.
The data provides absolute counts for six specific types of contraceptive methods:
- New IUD Inserted
- Oral Pills (Cycles Issued)
- DMPA (Injected)
- Vasectomy
- Tubectomy
- Condoms Issued (In Pieces)
