About

Rafael Pérez Aguirre

I’m Rafael Pérez Aguirre, holder of a master’s in Artificial Intelligence and faculty member in the Sciences and Engineering department at IBERO Puebla. My work connects artificial intelligence with digital fabrication and, now, with cybersecurity.

Background

  • Coordinator of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at IDIT, where I lead research and technological innovation projects.
  • Fab Academy 2019 graduate and currently an instructor and local evaluator at the Fab Lab Puebla node.
  • Led industry and business-relevant projects, and directed research and technological innovation initiatives funded by CONAHCYT, INADEM, and other science-promotion institutions.
  • Educator and researcher focused on applied AI, systems, and digital fabrication.

Why cybersecurity

Security is now a cross-cutting layer of everything we build: AI models, connected devices, and fabrication processes. I’m taking Fab Futures — Cybersecurity 2026 to integrate that perspective rigorously into my academic and lab practice, and to bring it back to my students.
