About me¶

I'm a whale biologist that often uses animal-attached sensors and acoustic recording devices to address questions about occurrence, behaviour, habitat use, and effects of manmade noise. I've been using Matlab for data processing and analysis and R+RStudio for the more statistical work, but I would like to get more familiar with Python. In general I just enjoy figuring things out and apply new methods to answer interesting whale-related questions.

I am based at the Westman Islands Research Centre of the University of Iceland where I work as a research specialist. I hold a BA in Audiology from Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and an MPhil and a PhD in Biology from the University of St Andrews, Scotland, UK.
